How to Fix Tablet Screen Flickering

Screen flickering on tablets can range from minor software glitches to serious display hardware failure. Here's how to tell the difference.

Software Causes

• Auto-brightness sensor malfunction — turn off auto-brightness • Adaptive refresh rate bugs (120Hz iPads/Samsung Tabs) — set to 60Hz temporarily • App conflicts — check if flickering occurs only in specific apps • OS bugs — update to latest iPadOS or One UI version

iPad-Specific Fixes

1. Settings → Display & Brightness → turn off True Tone 2. Turn off ProMotion (iPad Pro) temporarily 3. Reset All Settings (doesn't erase data) 4. DFU restore as last software resort

Samsung Galaxy Tab Fixes

1. Settings → Display → Motion Smoothness → set to Standard 2. Wipe cache partition (Recovery mode) 3. Safe Mode test (hold Power Off on screen) 4. Factory reset
