How it's done
How We Perform Laptop Graphics Card Upgrade
What our technicians do, what it requires, and how to tell you need it.
1 How It's Performed
For an upgrade rather than a repair, our technicians check the GPU's solder joints and VRM components for the specific failure signatures common to its chip generation, re-flow or repair at the component level where the board design allows it, and verify stability under sustained load — not just a quick idle test.
Typical time: 1–4 hours
2 What This Requires
- A proper stress test (not just a visual check) to separate a real GPU fault from a thermal-throttling or driver problem — these three causes are frequently confused.
- Thermal imaging equipment to spot a reflow-able solder fault before assuming a full chip replacement is needed.
3 When You Need This
- You want to run newer software or games that your current card genuinely can't handle (an upgrade case, not a repair case).
- The system falls back to integrated graphics unexpectedly on a laptop with a dedicated GPU.
Who repairs your device
Repaired in-house by Xigox technicians
Laptop Graphics Card Upgrade is handled by Xigox technicians from start to finish, never handed on to another shop. Work that needs the repair bench is done at our workshop in Virar West.
Board-level faults are traced with a microscope, a multimeter and a soldering station before any part is replaced, and parts are fitted only after you approve the quote.
We don't open your personal files during a repair. When a job needs access to your data, such as data recovery or a Windows reinstall, we ask you first.
- Repaired in-house, not outsourced
- Quote approved by you before work starts
- Your files stay private
- Microscope and board-level tools
- Genuine or OEM-grade parts
- 90-day warranty on repairs

Laptop specifics
What Laptop Graphics Card Upgrade Means on a Laptop
Windows laptops are the most serviceable class we handle — most parts are modular, so repairs are usually faster and cheaper than sealed designs.
Why it happens on Windows laptop and notebook owners
- Dust clogging the fan and fin stack after 12–18 months of use
- Dried factory thermal paste on the CPU and GPU dies
- Failing DC jack causing intermittent charging
- Aftermarket RAM or SSD running outside spec
What our Laptop technician checks
- Full teardown, fan and fin-stack clean
- Thermal paste and pad replacement on CPU and GPU
- Stress test with live temperature logging
- Battery wear level and charge-cycle report
Laptop hardware we work on
- Modular SODIMM RAM and M.2 NVMe slots
- Replaceable keyboard and palmrest assemblies
- Standard eDP display panels
- Removable battery packs and DC jacks
- Discrete GPU and CPU heat-pipe assemblies
Models we see most often
- HP Pavilion and ProBook
- Dell Inspiron, Vostro and Latitude
- Lenovo IdeaPad and ThinkPad
- Asus VivoBook and TUF
Because most Windows laptop parts are modular, we can usually quote an exact part cost the same day and complete the repair in 2–4 hours.
Will repairing my laptop void the manufacturer warranty?
If your laptop is still in warranty we will tell you before touching it, so you can decide between the brand service centre and us. Out-of-warranty work is covered by our own written 90-day warranty.
