FAQ
FAQs — Lenovo IdeaCentre 5 Thermal Paste Replacement in Kurla East
Everything you need to know before booking your repair
10 questions answered
Laptop thermal paste should be replaced every 2-3 years or when you notice overheating, throttling, or high CPU temperatures. Gaming laptops may need replacement every 1-2 years.
Thermal paste replacement at Xigox Mumbai costs ₹350-₹499 for standard paste, ₹499-₹799 for premium compounds like Arctic MX-4, and ₹799-₹1,499 for liquid metal application.
Yes, replacing dried-out thermal paste typically reduces CPU temperature by 10-20°C. Premium thermal compounds like Arctic MX-4 or Thermal Grizzly provide even better cooling.
Yes — out-of-warranty computers are most of what we handle in Kurla East. Once the manufacturer warranty lapses, authorised centres often quote near-replacement prices for a single component. We repair at component level where it is safe to do so, which is usually a fraction of that cost, and back it with our own 90-day warranty. Customers near Bail Bazaar in Kurla East are covered by our free pickup.
You pay nothing beyond the ₹350 inspection. If we cannot resolve the fault, we explain exactly what we found, return your computer in the condition we received it, and — where the economics do not justify a repair — tell you so plainly rather than selling you work that is not worth doing. We've been serving Mumbai Suburban district for over 15 years.
For software faults, setup, upgrades and diagnostics we can work on-site anywhere in Kurla East. Component-level work — board repair, screen bonding, liquid-damage recovery — needs workshop equipment, so we collect the computer, repair it, and return it. Both options are free of travel charges. We also serve Kurla, Kurla West, Mumbai, so you can recommend us to neighbours too.
We send live updates over WhatsApp at each stage: collection, diagnosis, quote approval, repair completion, and dispatch. You can reply to that thread at any point to reach the technician handling your computer rather than a general helpline. Customers across Kurla East (400024) enjoy priority same-day scheduling.
Back up documents, photos and anything stored only on that computer before any repair — with us or anyone else. Most Lenovo IdeaCentre 5 Thermal Paste Replacement work does not touch your data, but board-level faults and storage failures can be unpredictable. Tell us in advance if the drive holds irreplaceable data and we will treat recovery as the first priority. Customers near Bail Bazaar in Kurla East are covered by our free pickup.
Our rule of thumb: if the repair costs more than roughly half of a comparable replacement and the computer is more than five years old, replacement is usually the better call. We tell you which side of that line you are on during the inspection in Kurla East, even when the answer means we do not get the job. Trusted by customers throughout Mumbai Suburban — rated 4.9★ across 9,727+ reviews.
Yes — Xigox operates 9 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week in Kurla East, including Sundays and public holidays. Weekend pickups are often the most convenient option for people who cannot be at home on a working day. Customers across Kurla East (400024) enjoy priority same-day scheduling.

How it's done
How We Perform Thermal Paste Replacement
What our technicians do, what it requires, and how to tell you need it.
1 How It's Performed
When a component genuinely needs swapping rather than repairing, we fully disassemble the cooling path, clean out accumulated dust from the fan blades and heatsink fins (the single biggest real cause of creeping temperatures), remove the old dried-out thermal paste completely from both the CPU/GPU die and the heatsink contact plate, and apply fresh paste before reassembly.
Dried-out factory thermal paste is one of the most common causes of creeping temperatures on a laptop that is otherwise healthy — we always clean off the old compound fully before applying fresh paste, rather than layering over it.
Typical time: 30–45 minutes
2 What This Requires
- Full disassembly of the cooling path (not just an external vent blow-out), since dust builds up heaviest inside the heatsink fins where compressed air alone can't reach.
- Complete removal of old, dried thermal paste before applying new paste — layering fresh paste over old residue defeats the purpose.
- A before/after load-temperature comparison so you can see the actual improvement.
3 When You Need This
- It's been 2+ years since the last internal cleaning — dust buildup is gradual and easy to not notice until it's already affecting performance.
- The exhaust vent feels barely warm even when the fan is clearly running fast, suggesting a dust-blocked path rather than a working one.
