How it's done
What our technicians do, what it requires, and how to tell you need it.
When this exact symptom shows up, we first check the drive's own health data (SMART attributes, reallocated sector count) to confirm whether it's actually failing versus just full, then clone your existing drive sector-by-sector onto the new one wherever possible so your OS, apps, and files carry over without a fresh install.
Typical time: 30–60 minutes (longer if cloning existing data)
The model
The iMac 27 5K 2020 is the larger, Intel-based 5K iMac generation (2019-2020) — the last iMacs before Apple's move to its own silicon, featuring a more repair-accessible design than the newer 24" models and genuine user-upgradeable RAM via a rear access door.
Avoid the directory hustle. Choose a direct service centre with Xigox. Apple display panels, keyboard membranes, and battery packs are not interchangeable with standard laptop parts — generic replacements cause functional issues. Xigox sources genuine-equivalent Apple components for Apple iMac 27 5K 2020 CD/DVD Drive Not Working Repair in Malad East: display panels matched to Apple specs, genuine Apple BMS-compatible batteries — ensuring full macOS compatibility after repair.
