Laptop screen replacement in Mumbai starts from roughly ₹1,999 and runs to ₹6,999 on our indicative price list, while MacBook display assemblies run from ₹8,999 to ₹28,999. Where your quote lands inside that range depends on the panel itself: size, resolution, refresh rate, touch and technology. This guide teaches you to read a screen quote so you can tell whether it's fair.
Most price confusion comes from comparing quotes for different panels as if they were the same thing. A basic 14-inch HD panel and a 16-inch 165Hz QHD gaming panel are both "a laptop screen", but they're different parts at very different prices. Before you pay, it's worth knowing what is being replaced, whether the screen is actually the fault and what the quote ought to include.
What does laptop screen repair cost in Mumbai, and why is the range so wide?
Panels vary enormously in price, even within one brand. The table shows how cost tends to move with panel type. The ranges are indicative starting points; the exact figure depends on your model, and we give it in writing before any work. The inspection fee is ₹350 and is refunded if you go ahead.
| Panel type | How cost behaves | Indicative range |
|---|---|---|
| Standard HD or Full HD, non-touch, 60Hz | Lower part of the range; widest supply | ₹1,999 - ₹6,999 |
| Touchscreen or 2-in-1 panel | Higher, as the touch layer is bonded to the glass | Within or above the range, by model |
| High refresh rate (120Hz to 240Hz) gaming panel | Upper part of the range | ₹1,999 - ₹6,999 |
| OLED or 3K and above | Quoted per model; premium parts | Confirmed after inspection |
| MacBook Retina or ProMotion display assembly | Replaced as a complete assembly | ₹8,999 - ₹28,999 |
Our price list shows warranties of 90 days for laptop screen replacements. Most common screen jobs finish the same day when the panel is in stock, while an unusual model may need a part to be sourced first. We confirm that before collecting your laptop.
Is it really the screen that's broken?
Not always, and that's where money gets wasted. Several faults mimic a bad panel, and a few of them are cheaper to fix. The clues below help you separate them. If you can connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV with an HDMI cable, do that first, because a clean picture on the external screen means the laptop's graphics are healthy.
| What you see | Most likely cause | Replace the panel? |
|---|---|---|
| Cracked glass, black blotches or spreading ink-like patches | Damaged panel | Yes |
| Vertical or horizontal coloured lines after a knock | Damaged panel or its driver circuit | Usually yes |
| Flicker that changes as you move the lid | Display cable or hinge strain | Often no; cable first |
| Image visible only when shining a torch at the screen | Backlight failure | Depends; backlight or panel |
| Screen black but external monitor works | Panel, cable or backlight | Diagnose first |
| Screen black and external monitor also blank | Graphics or motherboard fault | No |

How do you decode a screen panel before it's ordered?
A replacement panel has to match several specifications, and a mismatch means the part won't fit or won't light up. A good quote starts from the code printed on a sticker on the back of the original panel, which a technician reads once the bezel is off.
- Size and resolution: 13.3, 14, 15.6 or 17.3 inches, and a resolution such as 1366x768, 1920x1080 or 2560x1440.
- Panel code: letters identify the maker, for example LP for LG Display, NV for BOE, B for AU Optronics and N for Innolux, followed by the size and variant.
- Connector: modern panels usually use a 30-pin or 40-pin cable, and the two aren't interchangeable. Many high refresh rate panels use the 40-pin type.
- Refresh rate: a 144Hz gaming panel can't simply be swapped for a 60Hz one on every model.
- Mounting: brackets and screw positions differ between panels of the same size, which is why panel code beats size alone.
Our explainer on IPS, OLED and other screen types explains why those panels differ so much in price.
How do screen costs differ across laptop brands?
Brand matters less than panel type, but there are patterns. Mainstream and business lines share widely available panels, gaming laptops use high refresh rate parts, premium ultrabooks use thinner and sometimes bonded panels, and Apple sells complete display assemblies.
| Brand group | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus (mainstream and business) | Widely available panels; confirm size, connector and brackets |
| Gaming lines such as Acer Nitro and Predator, Asus ROG and TUF, MSI, Lenovo Legion | High refresh panels; usually the upper part of the range |
| Samsung Galaxy Book | Pro and Pro 360 models use AMOLED; quoted per model |
| Apple MacBook | Whole display assembly, ₹8,999 - ₹28,999 |
| Avita, Chuwi, iBall, Infinix, Honor, Xiaomi | We don't replace screens for these; the spare isn't reliably available |

What should you do right after the screen cracks?
- Switch the laptop off and stop using it. Cracks tend to spread with use and handling.
- Put clear tape over splintered areas to stop shards and keep the crack from spreading.
- Don't press on the display or close the lid on an object.
- If the picture is still visible, back up your files, or connect an external monitor to reach them.
- Photograph the damage and note the laptop's model name from the underside label.
- Get a written quote before deciding. Our cracked screen guide helps you decide whether it's worth it.
What should a fair screen quote include?
Ask for the panel code or full specification, whether the panel is new or used, how long the warranty lasts and whether labour and any bracket or cable replacement are included. A quote that only states "screen replacement" without a panel specification is a warning sign. Also ask how long the job takes, and whether your laptop will need to stay overnight.
Frequently asked questions
Can a cracked laptop screen be repaired without replacing it?
In almost every case, no. On a standard laptop the cracked layer is the liquid-crystal panel itself, so the panel has to be replaced. Cosmetic cracks in a front cover are different, so we check what's actually damaged.
Will a replacement screen look as good as the original?
A correctly matched panel should look the same. Differences appear when the replacement has a different panel type, brightness or colour coverage, which is why matching the panel code matters.
Is it cheaper to buy a new laptop than replace the screen?
For most laptops, repair costs far less than replacement. The exception is an old or low-value machine whose screen quote approaches the price of a similar refurbished laptop. Compare the two before deciding.
Do dead pixels need a new screen?
Stuck pixels sometimes recover, but dead pixels and bright spots usually don't. If they're few and small, many people live with them. A cluster or a spreading patch generally means replacement.
