FAQ

MacBook Shop FAQ — Grant Road

We repair all MacBook models — MacBook Air M1/M2/M3 (13" and 15"), MacBook Pro 14"/16" M-series, and Intel MacBook Air and Pro through 2020. We also service older MacBooks back to 2012.
Yes. Our engineers are trained on Apple Silicon MacBooks. We perform screen replacement, battery service, keyboard repair, and logic board diagnostics on M1/M2/M3 models.
For older Intel MacBooks (2012–2015 non-Retina) with removable storage, we offer SSD and RAM upgrades. Newer MacBooks with soldered components cannot be upgraded — we advise honestly after diagnosis, with no charge if nothing is possible.
MacBook display replacement starts from ₹9,999. MacBook Pro Retina displays range up to ₹34,999 depending on model year and panel type. ₹350 inspection fee (refunded if you proceed with repair) before any work begins.
In many cases, yes. Even when a MacBook does not power on, we can often repair the logic board to extract data, or use direct SSD reading on compatible models. For T2 and M-series encrypted SSDs, recovery depends on the type of failure — we assess and advise honestly.
Standard hardware repairs (screen, battery, keyboard) do not touch Find My Mac or Activation Lock; logic board replacement can require you to sign out of iCloud first, which we explain clearly before starting that specific repair.
Yes — Pro models have additional components (discrete GPU on some years, Touch Bar on others, more complex cooling) that change both the diagnostic approach and, sometimes, the cost versus the simpler Air lineup.
Scissor and Magic Keyboard mechanisms allow more targeted repair than the older butterfly design, which typically needs a top-case swap — we tell you which category your specific model falls into before quoting.
Flexgate refers to a display flex-cable wear issue on certain 2016-2017 MacBook Pro models causing backlight flicker or stage-light effect at the bottom of the screen — we diagnose this specifically if your model and symptoms match.
Yes, bringing in several MacBooks from the same household or small office at once is generally eligible for a bulk consideration — ask when booking.

MacBook Repair in Grant Road — Expert Apple Service

MacBook repair is a specialised discipline. Unlike generic laptops, MacBooks use proprietary connectors, soldered storage, and custom Apple silicon that generic repair shops are not equipped to handle. Xigox's Virar West workshop is staffed by MacBook technicians with 5+ years of MacBook-specific experience — covering every model from the 2012 MacBook Pro to the latest M3 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

MacBook Screen & Battery — Our Most Common Repairs

Retina display replacement and battery service account for the majority of MacBook repairs. Screens are model-specific — a MacBook Air M2 display is a different assembly from a MacBook Pro 16" M3 — and installation requires careful ribbon cable handling, backlight calibration, and True Tone matching. Battery replacement on modern MacBooks involves adhesive removal and precise cell fitting; a poorly done battery replacement causes trackpad pressure and keyboard flex. Our team performs both repairs same-day for most models, starting from ₹499.

Logic Board Repair vs. Replacement

Apple Authorised Service typically replaces the entire logic board for ₹35,000–60,000. In most cases — power IC failure, USB-C controller fault, sensor hub crash — a single chip on the board is the culprit. Our chip-level micro-soldering identifies and replaces the specific component for ₹5,000–12,000. We carry BGA rework stations, hot-air tools, and board-level diagnostic equipment to perform this work in-house. Every logic board repair undergoes a 24-hour burn-in test before return.

Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3 Repair Considerations

Apple Silicon MacBooks (2020+) introduced unified memory — RAM is part of the SoC and cannot be upgraded. The SSD is also secured by the T2/M-series chip, making data inaccessible without the original logic board. This changes the repair calculus: for M-series MacBooks, preserving the logic board is critical. Our engineers are trained specifically on Apple Silicon architecture, performing screen, battery, and keyboard repairs that do not risk the logic board's data pairing integrity.
